Wessex Go Tournament

This is one of the oldest Go tournaments in the UK, first held in 1970. It has moved between various locations in the area but has mostly been in the city of Bath in recent years. Bristol Go Club took over organising the event from the Bath Club in 2019 having previously run the event in its early days.

It's typically a three-round McMahon tournament and usually takes place on the Sunday in October when the clocks go back.

The 50th Wessex Go Tournament

26th and 27th October 2019

The 50th Wessex Tournament in 2019 was held in Bristol because it was a special event, but we plan to hold future tournaments in Bath as before for the foreseeable future.

This was a two-day event (for 2019 only) celebrating the 50th year of the tournament and the memory of T Mark Hall, a former member of Bristol Go Club and four-time Wessex winner. The event was made possible by sponsorship from the T Mark Hall Foundation.
